Dear blog

A long break since the last blog but I must try to keep this going to cover the whole voyage UK to UK.

The family (ex very pregnant Hannah and Joe of course) returned to St Lucia on 24th December. Arrived to a very nice pointcetta being delivered from the Robinsons - thanks Tony and Mandy. I spent Xmas day morning replacing the stanchion bases and trying to repair the bowthruster (alas it works one way now but not the other) but we managed to finish work in time to leave the marina so as to anchor in Rodney Bay before dark. Xmas dinner consisted of chicken jerk, mashed potatoes and peas followed by fruit - very simple and nobody suffered poisoning from the chicken being left frozen in the fridge for a week. next day on to Soufreres where we anchored under the magnificent Petit Piton, stern to a wonderful jungle fringed beach in crystal clear water

We were late arriving and got shouted at by 2 lots of fishermen either end of the official mooring area. Eventually managed to squeeze in to mooring area but we soon got too close to the neighbouring boat and had to pull off - AJB finally letting the stern line go in the middle of the night so we swung to the anchor in 20m water. Had a trip ashore the next day to see the sulphur springs and bathe in the hot falls - quite interesting but nothing compared to Rotorua. However inland St Lucia was beautiful and worth seeing.

Excellent meal at Harmony Beach restaurant that night - we all had fish a la creole - no wine sold alas but the rum punches served instead more than made up!! Back to another lovely bay the next day (Anse de Cochons) before returning to Anse de Bois d'Orange for a final swim and Rodney Bay. All the sailing on this sheltered coast is a reach - broad going south and fine coming north. The wind is quite variable between F2 and F5 but the air and weather is so warm that it can only be described as idyllic
