Dear Blog
Will do 1 more blog to cover our arrival at St
Lucia yonight hopefully before midnight! Hopefully this our last day at
sea!
And would you believe it but, at luch time
today, we broke the gennaker halyard and dumped the Code 0 in the sea -
just as we did on the first day. Picture show the crew recovering
it!
 Luckily I had a spare halyard which was already
moused through a different block on the top of the mast (so avoiding another
trip up it), so after some persuasion that this was a good idea (some preferring
a quiet life with the jib up), we fitted it and as I write we are rolling along
again in 16knots of wind tacking downwind to our goal with the Code 9 up
again.
And 30 mins ago land ahoy !! - we sighted the
Pitons of St Lucia quite clear 40 miles away against the setting sun. well
if you look carefully!
 The crew can't wait to get in and phone loved ones
- well perhaps not at 5am your time (1am our time when we are tied
up)!
I haven't mentioned for fear of worrying people
another major breakage problem we have had - all will be revealed tomorrow -
watch this organ as Private Eye would say! Sufficient to say that the MD
of Southerly has been involved over the sat phone.
