Off to the States, the weather only got us to Lake Worth.

With the moon still up we hoist the mainsail at anchor and head off, soon I get a Noforgienland message with a picture of Innamorata and the moon from one of the other boats anchored - what a lovely gesture and photo!
The wind was a light NE, we had a gentle sail up to the Great Bahama Banks and a leisurely sail across the bank towards the Gulf stream.
It was clear we weren’t going to get north and so we headed to Lake worth. After a red sky at night sunset we caught a few glimpses of the Space X launch through some gaps in the cloud cover but we actually didn't see very  much of it!  By 4 am the wind had died and we motored for the last few hours getting to the entrance just after 8, with the tide just about still going in we anchored and got ready to head ashore and check in. We launched the dinghy and went ashore, we found the customs and immigration check in easily but boy did we have a hard time checking in 😡 what rude, unwelcoming and really not pleasant at all people, we very nearly told them where to go but as we want to head up to Chesapeake we bit our tongues, basically they made us buy something called a decal before they would give us a cruising permit, we didn't think we needed the decal and have never had to have one before when we have been here - and this is out 4th time checking into the states but they insisted and were very stroppy about it, no explanation even though their website says a cruising permit negates the need for one! We still are none the wiser as to whether we need it or not. Anyway we did get the cruising permit and are now free to move when the weather says we can and won’t ever have to see the officers again 🥳.
We took the opportunity to fill with fuel before we moved down to the West Palm beach end of Lake Worth so we could go ashore easily to get some more shopping and stretch our legs. Watching the weather closely we soon saw a good opportunity for us to head north and so once again I prepared some meals - this time we are hoping to get all the way up to the Chesapeake so 4 or 5 days at sea.
