We had to change our plans yet again! It would have been good to leave
CATRYN in the Azores for a couple of months but there simply wasn’t any safe
berth in Horta for us. Rafted up four abreast with 50 other yachts against the
harbour wall wasn’t my idea of fun. It was the most chronic conjestion of yachts
I’ve been mixed up in. But we were very fortunate to visit the islands of Flores
and Faial. They are very beautiful and the islanders exceptionally
friendly.
We’re now heading back to our home port of Aberdyfi in Wales, a distance of
about 1400 miles. I will be back in the Azores in July for a few weeks
skippering another yacht, so the opportunity to see more of the islands will be
there.
I’m singlehanding now and will continue with position reports and blogs
when it’s quiet!!
