From Phil and Cath

 

Monday morning early and ‘Catryn’ is motoring down the inside passage of the coast of Labrador towards the town/village of Nain. We have no further info on the place apart from what is written in a 1970’s Admiralty pilot and the knowledge that there is an airport.

 

The inside passage (winding through channels between islands well away from the open sea) is stunningly beautiful especially after the starkness of the Canadian Artic it is also the first trees we have seen on the trip so for Dai that means when he left Ireland nearly 3 months ago.

 

At Nain Catherine and I will be departing the boat and start on our journey home. As we have no tickets as yet we do not know exactly when that will be however. We do have an R n R stop in Montreal staying with Eva, for those blog followers who know her, very excited about that.

 

So Mum and Dad yes i am still alive, Dave and Pete at work it looks like i will be back when i said i would be and to everyone else that knows us we are looking forward to seeing you all and boring you rigid with tails of the artic and photos which include shots of a lot of icebergs and smaller dots on the landscape which we can assure you are Polar Bears.

 

The whole trip has been an adventure and an experience we have seen some amazing places and met great people on the way. The north west passage eluded us this year however the decision to return is still looking like the right one. The remaining yachts we left behind it appears have made it through Bellot straits however there adventure is still very much continuing and it certainly is not a done deal that they will make it all the way this year.

 

Thanks to Dai and the rest of the crew of ‘Catryn’ especially for this diversion in to drop us off a little bit earlier, it will make a great difference to our journey home. See you all back in Blighty
