Almost exactly 48 hors after leaving Reykjavik, we are approaching the Greenland coast on a chilly, bright Friday evening. The departure from Iceland was enlivened by spotting humpback whales before the tourist boats did and watching a wonderful display. Nothing much else happened on the crossing...we motored for roughly the first 24 hours and then sailed with the 10 knots of wind on or just aft of the beam and soon slipped into the watchkeeping routine, although with Dave having joined us, we were able to do a 3 hour on, six off pattern, We have been seeing icebergs and bergy bits for the last hour or so but none of them have held us up much and it does not look as if (touch wood!) the ice is becoming too dense as we approach land.
We are aiming to go up the fjord towards the Gino Watkins cross and anchor near where we did in 2022 and then the exploring can begin.
