Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canaries but by far the most sparsely populated. It is barren & desert like with plenty of high ground and some fine sandy beaches, but only a handful of villages inland. The ground is a reddish brown in contrast to the black lava of Lanzarote. The one large resort we visited, Morro Jable, is backed by huge sand dunes & is popular with wind & kite surfers but was not our cup of tea! All in all it is an interesting island to have visited but it's difficult to see why you would want to stay for long although we were made welcome everywhere.
