15:26.1N 52:50.4W Another milestone was accomplished today. we hit the 500 nautical miles to go. The signpost on the sea had it in big bold letters ‘St Lucia 500 Miles West – Cape Verdes 1590 Miles East’. So it must be so. As it was the last celebration until we hear the Reggae music and smell the rum punch, we opened our last bottle of sparkly. A cheeky little number, exclusive to the Cape Verdes!!! We also had a beer chaser, as one bottle between 5 doesn’t go far! Anyway to the winds. Today we have faired better and only had to deviate north a couple of time, more or less heading in the direction of St Lucia and not Florida as was yesterday. The temperature is very hot and one of the crew has come down with the dreaded prickly heat. As we have a medical box that could would enable us to carry out brain surgery, no problem we thought. Alas nothing stating it was for his symptoms. A tube of anti itch cream seemed to do the trick plus keeping out of the sun, which is very difficult on a sailboat. Hopefully we have only 4 more sleeps, as our grandkids would say, to St Lucia!
