HIP HIP
HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!
Yes: we can see
land. We first saw Barbados at sunset last night. It was
really odd: something in the ocean! It felt mad to be sailing past and not
stopping. I felt tearful when I saw it, because I felt that we weren't
alone in the ocean anymore, and that should we need help, at least it would be
available. We then had a washathon, and all went mad washing our
hair and using water which we don't need to save so much now.
Lovely. Even Mimi had a shower.
Another rough and rolly
night sailing on towards St Vincent. I have spent a couple of hours sewing a St
Vincent and the Grendadines flag, natty yellow blue and green, with green
diamonds on it. Mimi has made a pink flag with and orange fish on
it. I think we are going to decorate our prow with tinsel and flags for
our landfall. We have all sorts of silly home-made flags to hang up
the cutter stay.
We have been a bit slower
today because the spinnaker got destroyed, after having a fight with the mast
steps yesterday afternoon. Big shame, we will have to have it resewn
here or in Trinidad. We are all exhausted and cannot wait to
relax after the anchor is down. Time for some celebrations
soon!!! We can actually see Mustique and St Vincent on the
horizon.........
