We were greeted by dolphins this morning, a cool breeze, slight swell rolling in from the NW and partly cloudy. Azores Islands are on the horizon 😊 We’re about 2 hrs away from the harbour. We started off with some good winds which helped us get North after departing Antigua, had a day or so motorsailing close to the wind and then we motored a few days as the winds faded. This gave us the opportunity to get the lines out and we caught a few fish, notably a big Mahi and a Tuna. Winds arrived from a favourable direction, and we started heading towards the Azores under sail, the weather picked up as predicted and we had a strong breeze for about three days from a favourable direction – Good progress was made. This wind slowly faded and sea state improved as we approached the Azores. Thomas alerted us to the sighting of whales yesterday (really close to the boat), the two of them seemed to have come to say hello! And put a smile on our faces 😊 Dolphis have been almost guiding us in and have regularly played on the bow the past day. The weather is looking favourable, as of now, we will plan to depart Horta after a few repairs, fresh food and some fuel on Saturday morning, local time. Kind regards, Maegan. |
