36.29.1N 002.45.0W Hello Mediterranean

Dolphins.. Dolphins and more Dolphins – putting up a show! 😊 Yesterday we managed to motor sail into the straits, We have been making really good progress since then as conditions are really flat and calm – no wind and motoring at the moment. The straits were quite busy upon the approach ( Full moon rising over Morocco) and calmed down to a relative quiet passing through there – Very favourable conditions, clear sky and no wind. Two war ships came steaming past, Im guessing a good 20kn. The crew noted and saw the Moon eclipse (think it was the day before) We heard of an Orca attack on a small sailing vessel which reported on the VHF, early morning, on the Western side of Gib. This has become quite a regular occurrence on the Western side of Gib and small sailing vessels report being attacked by Orca whales as they ram into the rudders. This morning we have been entertained by Dolphins once again and the clear calm water made for good pictures & videos. Late morning we were suddenly alerted by the fishing reel a the one line tared running! We caught a very nice Big eye Tuna!! Special occasion as while the boat as drifting/standstill, the whole school of Tunas was slowly, gently approaching behind this hooked Tuna as Will was reeling it in. Quite special seeing about 30 Tuna right at the back around the swim platform. As you could guess, Tuna, Fresh Tuna was for lunch 😊 Calm conditions are forecast for tonight, hoping to sail again tomorrow. Kind regards |
