This is the boom where the kicking strap fits. There has been a crack for a few days but it is sleeved and I thought it would be ok.
Just raised sail leaving Portland and "it's not going to be ok". The boom was flexing and the crack would become two halves of boom quite quickly.
Mainsail is down and as I'm going downwind I am just going to fly the Genny as there is no point making it worse.
I could fly the main as if it were a trysail off the spinnaker winches if I have to sail to windward.
She'll be right !
If anyone knows of a suitable boom as a replacement (or welder) then I'm in the market.
