Hi all

Not much to report. I had some texts about weather advice and the grib that came back when i connected to iridium yesterday and all said that the wind was going light and from the north.  Sure enough, when I woke up this morning at 6.30am (actually, thats a more complicated story for another day - so when I woke up for the last time this morning...) the breeze had died and the boat speed fell first to 3 kts (I'll live with that) then 2.5 kts.  On went the yanmar and out went the rod.

I'm staying on the track for Sao Miguel as the same weather says that I will get 10 kts of westerly tomorrow which I can sail into at about NW and I can trade that for a more southerly course when the 20 kt northerlies hit on Friday (that make sense Jason and Tim ?).  Another grib coming tonight for the next 4 days so I will see whats changed and plan accordingly.

No ships and almost no sign of life.  I did have a fish on mid afternoon which fought hard initially and then went passive so I think was a dorado.  It got off the hook as I was winding in and before I ever got sight of it.  Think my error was to have too much line out so have been trailing about 100 m since.  That enough Dave and Tim ?

Jetty - not sure you are reading this but I hear you made Lagos in the Algarve.  Nice job.

Texts.

Dave Smart - It sounds like I did better than Alf from what Dave says but no cigar !
Tim - T0llesbury with a zero
Em - Not much to report here either but the sailing and the emptiness has been excellent and I do have gammon, rice and peas planned for tea.  I'm eating well and there is still time to substitute fish for the gammon.  Might as well try "cosmic ordering" it worked for Noel Edmonsds.  Glad that Harv has been communicating and look forward to some pics myself.
