Morocco Part 2 - Casablance

Sandra went by train to Casablance with some friends, while I stayed and
did boat jobs.
Casablance is an hour south of Rabat by train, and is Morocco's largest
city.
The main tourist drawcard is the Hassan II mosque. Designed by a
French architect, it was completed
in 1993 and is the largest mosque outside Saudi Arabia, accommodating
25,000 inside and 80,000 in
the square outside.
![]() The minaret is 210 metres tall, and has a laser light beam pointing towards
Mecca.
![]() It is built over the sea.

![]() Immediately outside the lavish mosque is a slum. Casablance attracts
hundreds of thousands of
impoverished country people.
![]() The second drawcard is Rick's Cafe, which commemorates the 1940s movie
"Casablanca" which
starred Humphrey Bogart ('play it again, Sam') and Ingrid
