Approaching Nisos Oinoussa, Greece. 3 churchs on
the hill, 5 more and 2 monastries scattered around the town.
![]() The harbour and waterfront. This town is the birthplace of some
of Greece's wealthiest ship owners and they come home for the
summer holidays. Here is an interesting link:
![]() You could count 8 churches from our anchorage. 3 or on
the hill beyond the boat.
![]() The Greek fishermen take loving care of their small
fishing boats....
![]() ... and they actually go out and fish in them!
![]() The car/passenger ferry from Athens to Lesvos
![]() The beautiful town of Mithmina (which is under a preservation
order).
![]() Parked next to 3 large trawlers...rust buckets in this case.
![]() The quaint and ancient village. There were in fact lots
of tourists, but we are getting good at leaving them out
of our photos.
![]() The fishing boat inner harbour with tavernas.
![]() Passing a Turkish minesweeper as we head north to invade
the Dardanelles.
![]() Bozcaada harbour and (originally) Venetian castle. Last stop
before entering the Dardenelles.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Turkish fort on the European/Gallipolli side
of the Dardanelles with Turkish war memorial on the hill.
![]() Cannakale on the Asian side. The red sign on the
hill reads 18 March 1915. The Dardanelles are only
a mile or so wide at this point, with a 2 to 3 knot
current flowing SW.
![]() Sea Cloud of Malta, a luxury mini cruise liner. $5500 per
person for a 10 day cruise from Malta to France if you fancy
it.
