We are running under spinnaker again today, having
got it up after a lot of untangling this morning. We have been averaging
over 6 knots, rolling down the south west trade winds all day.
Yesterday we had tried goose winged with the genoa
rigged onto the spinnaker pole with a long tackle. But the proper
spinnaker is faster. Noel is doing a superb job steering most of the
time.
Our position now is 27 deg 33 min North and 62 deg
50 min west 535 miles into our passage. We are cutting off the Bermuda
corner and aiming to head up in a great arc to the high 30s north and then
to run off the remaining eastings to Flores. That is the way the wind
seems to be taking us.
We established reasonable radio contact with
Herb's long range weather net yesterday, so hope to have regular updates from
him as well as grib files. I am still working on setting up the radio e
mail.
No fish caught yet and we had to take the lures in
as they attracted a determined sea bird who ran along the water after
them.
Signing off for now
