On Sunday night the wind dropped off and we had to
motor for 18 hours, which was a pain, but I am determined to keep to schedule
and cover 100 miles each 24 hours.
The high points of yesterday were getting the
spinnaker aloft, which took us along at a steady 6 knots in light
airs.
We put it away for the night, but hoisted it again
this morning after a bit of a struggle and we are blasting along at 7
knots.
The other first was making radio contact with
Herb's long distance Atlantic weather net. We listened to several other
boats and exchanged information ourselves. The outlook seems quite
promising to cut off the Bermuda corner in a day or so and commence making some
serious easting.
Spliced the mainbrace with G&T and settled down
for a quiet night. Noel, the wind vane performed satifactorily after a bit
of tweaking.
