37:21.7N 23:04.3E We were lucky to welcome onboard Ainhoa (one of Tanya’s nieces) who had already come for 2 days when we were in Croatia and was very keen to come back which we were very happy about ! She had never come to Greece and even if she only got a glimpse of it she said she definitively wants to come back given how different the islands and the mainland are as indeed she was able to see the different facets of Greece, in particular: The very touristic island of Mykonos - with its charming “chora” which that particular day (end of June !) had 5 cruise ships in its harbour… and seeing some of the biggest mega yacht (as the one of Ernesto Bertarelli “Vava II“) and busiest private helicopter traffic on that very same bay :) Swimming in the beautiful secluded beach (in the wild bay of O. Imesianosi) on Rinia island (close to Mykonos yet completely wild and unhabited). Wandering in one of the most impressive mythological, historical and archeological site in Greece, that of Delos. As it was very windy that day Roberto stayed on the boat while Tanya and Ainhoa took the dinghy ("a girls trip" as per Ainhoa) to go to the archeological site (and upon returning we were asked by 4 Spanish people if we could drop them at their sailing boat since they had issues with their own Dinghy - so we did and they loved it that Ainhoa was Spanish too !) The very Greek island of Siros (Finikas bay) where we ate the “best ice creams of the whole of the cylades"(or so they say ! ), bought some delicious baklavas and enjoyed a nice “freddo expresso” in the small harbour’s restaurant and were able to do decent food shopping in the “Despotiko” shop. A beautiful anchorage at Kythnos - AG. Stéfanos - were we ate amazing mezze (feta and courgettes balls and hora with feta and tomatoes in the oven) and lemon lamb - luckily we did not count them when we came to the restaurant said Ainhoa :) in the Taberna Kanthira with a fantastic view on the bay and Knotty Girl Seeing some coast of the Peloponnese and anchoring in some of its bays - Ormos Kranidhiou / Argolikos Kolpos / O. Vivari - a cyclone hole Visiting Spetses and having a nice dinner at “ Patralis “, which we reached with a water taxi Morning (before breakfast) and afternoon swimming routine Snorkeling for fish or ship wrecks Goats on the mountains of the islands Going grocery shopping or for meals ashore with the dinghy Eating lunch in bowls while sailing (or motoring - hic) Doing an 8 hours crossing - Ok she slept part of it since Tanya gave her half a sea sickness pill :) Experimenting all wind strengths (from 30 knots to 2 knots) and directions ! Seeing a turtle in O. Zogeria bay on Spetses Playing “banana” game with us (mini personal scrabble type game) Seeing for the fist time “salps” - https://australian.museum/learn/animals/sea-squirts/what-is-a-salp/ and being VERY happy to read that they are harmless :) Experimenting an anchorage “amarres à terre" Ainhoa has proven to be a quick learner, efficient, kind, curious, a great kitchen helper, dynamic and as always, VERY funn ! below, some of the things she said during our trip : “If I were the skipper I would not hire myself, I am useless” ! (since she slept a bit in crossing because of the sea sickness pills !) “Do you think we could ask him (someone watching us swim from his terrace) to bring us croissant in exchange of us swimming naked tomorrow morning ? !” “I could sleep there” - her feet on the ladder in the back of the boat “I am soooooo happy, I looooove it” ! We were happy to hear her say: “I will definitively come back to Greece, all the places you showed me are amazing" “I shall come back” which we very much hope she will !!!! And now - on our way to Kilada - after a last swim in the amazing Greek waters in Korakonisia - to lift Knotty Girl for the Summer (and quite happy to do so in a way as each bays are becoming too crowded to our taste !!!) YET we shall come back in September and already very much looking forward to it !! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
