36:34.05n 28:00.8e Roberto mentioned that he found a place along the Turkish coast with a well recommended (by other sailors) restaurant or another bay just prior to that one. This particular day, I was not so keen to going out so wanted to see the first bay - a very well protected bay too - which was well protected indeed but did not enchant us all so we continued to the large “Bozzukale Bay” that Roberto recommended in the first place (he had been there about 13-15 years ago and still remembered it - that amazes me !!). Well we were NOT disappointed. We moored on one of the pontoon owned by a small very simple Turkish style restaurant “Ali-Baba” (if you eat at the restaurant, you need not pay the mooring), managed by what we believe (yet we have not had any confirmation of it) by a family of smily and very helpful people. They have put a ladder at the end of a pontoon for people (like us) to swim in what seemed like a natural swimming pool. From there you could walk up to see the walls of a 400 B.C. citadel of the ancient city of Loryma which surrounded the natural port (the bay). It was built by Rhodes to prevent an enemy fleet to use this as their port. The restaurant is build in the nature and as soon as you go out of the restaurants you are greeted by donkeys (we even saw a baby donkey !), goats, dogs. It seems that these goats are very special and like to be clean… - see below pictures !:) We wanted to walk to the end of the bay in the bushes, yet, after 45 minutes of walking, as it was 3 pm and quite warm, we decided to go back to the boat and swim instead ! In the evening the restaurant puts the generator on and lights comes out magically ! They serve simple Turkish meal (mezze, kebabs, etc.) or you can order (which Roberto did) in advance their special meal (in this case slow cooked lamb - delicious !!). We knew that this restaurant was baking their own bread - so we ordered one for the next morning. So the next morning we walked along the pontoon into the restaurant and waited 4 minutes that our bread comes out of the over - absolutely DELICIOUS bread !!! Just another (like Jean-Luc says: another beautiful spot !) - we may come back ! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
