What a sailing year again ! Except for a couple of days back in Geneva in August and in September (for Tanya), we sailed from end of May to end of September and discovered so many amazing places - no-one can deny the fact that the Mediterranean sea is well situated allowing sailors to explore beautiful things either near the coasts or more inland (which we did not do so much this time round mostly because this year in Greece the weather was particularly hot and doing sight seeing when it is very hot Tanya does not like ! Yet, this means more to do next time round…).
We saw castles, historical sites, amazing rock formations, discovered new anchorages - and Tanya is now officially a professional at anchoring :) -, discovered sailing in Croatia (which was a first for Tanya and she LOVED it), pittoresque villages, romantic beaches, and swam in mostly warm waters, a couple of times with jelly fishes though (BEURK). We did a couple - not many I admit - hikes along the cost, had to stop to repair a couple of electrical motors (SIC - yet that belongs to life onboard), had few very enjoyable aperitifs / dinners with other sailors friends which allowed us to eat some local food.
We even saw 3 days ago a seal which is very rare in the Mediterranean, yet most of those in the Med are indeed in the Aegean sea !
This season again we welcomed a lot of friends and some family members onboard Knotty Girl for fun, unique and special moments. We sailed in Sicily, Italy, Montenegro, Croatia and Greece - meaning Roberto could enjoy putting up and down the respective country flags :)
After a couple of months in Greece, and while we love Greek salads & grilled octopus, I believe we will not have any for a while… !
Now our beauty if almost naked given that she is being hauled out of the water tomorrow….
We are very sad to leave her but know that she will be well taken care for in the yard, and that she will be shining and in an even better shape when we see her again next year in Spring, we cannot wait !!!
