Rain at last

I’m afraid this blog entry is again fairly sparse. Just after our we sent
yesterday’s off, the wind got up even more and we were forced to heave to for
the night a comfortable one – since the motion when hove to is gentle).
Unfortunately this has set us back a bit since we need to go west and there is a
current in this part of the ocean pushing us south and east. The strong wind has
now subsided, for the moment at least, so we are back to sailing west again.
In other news, it has finally rained. This is only the third day of rain we
have had since departing a month ago, which is a big difference from previous
years holidays in Scotland. The problem with the lack of rain is that there is
always a fine salt water mist hanging in the air and as you might expect, it
gets onto everything. After a few weeks this really starts to build up so that
everything you touch above decks is covered in a thin layer of salt. Thankfully
todays rain was heavy enough to wash a lot of this off.
