We headed down river on Monday 2 March 2015 and we were met with wind on the nose and debris (logs and rubbish) that had been washed into the river following the heavy rain we had the day and night before. We also were confronted with fishing pots and nets so spent an hour dodging these objects before we could get out into the Golfete. With the wind on the nose we had a bit of a hobby horse ride down to Cayo Camado (Burnt Cay or Texan Bay). We decided to go in and dock rather than anchor and were met by Pete and Keith, 2 Australians, who caught our lines. Aussies are all over the place.
Cayo Camado is tucked into a bay on the down river side of the Golfete. We anchored here 20mths ago. It's hard to think it has been this long. Mavis was lovely, the food was simply but good and inexpensive. We met up with Daniel & Piedad from M/V 'Jodi M' and decided that the weather looked OK to go to Livingston on Thursday morning and check out of Guatemala.
