The colour of the water has changed; it's no longer the intense blue of the ocean but a rather attractive dark green. And it's not nearly as salty, presumably the influence of the Amazon.
It's now 44 miles to an anchorage at Les Iles du Salût, which I hope is do-able in the dark. Today the weather is fair again whereas yesterday it was overcast and last night was acomanied by torrential rain, squalls and the occasional flash of lightning. So hopefully the ITCZ is now behind us (the Brazilian forecast places it at 10° North, but it's never there at this time of year and my weather books say it should be around 2 to 5° North, so probably I've misunderstood the Brazilian forecast).
It's hot, but despite that I have no intntion of going swimming. Yesterday I hooked a lovely Mahi-Mahi, a big male. But while playing it something took a big chunk out of its middle in a classic 'cookie-cutter' bite.
