Still here as the wind is forecast to be from the south for a day or three
yet, and quite strong. It also rained hard all afternoon but we went and found a
very good chandler who let us manage in Spanish with good humour and corrected
us when it was too far off (we needed a 32A electric plug and a couple of
shackles to re-route the jack-stays outside the shrouds so they don't foul the
yankee sheet tracks).
Some photographs from our passage here:
![]() ‘Maybe’ off the Lizard.
90’ long with at least 8 people aboard. She was a little slower than us but
carried on 15 miles or so down the Spanish coast.
![]() ![]() Big waves in Biscay
![]() But Poppy wasn’t bothered
(a male chaffinch according to the expedition’s consultant ornithologist
Jim Pawsey)
![]() Nor were several of his friends who didn’t stay long but carried on
fluttering towards the south only 3’ above the sea.
![]() Only 1/3 of the miles but it feels further.
