Set off this morning at just before 0400 to catch the tide through the Inverness Firth and arrive at Lossie with sufficient rise of tide to get in. Much calmer than yesterday evening but therefore motoring. Chris counted off the golf courses he has played as we went past - Castle Stuart, Fortrose & Rosemarkie, Nairn, Forres, Elgin and Lossiemouth, with Royal Dornoch rather further away to the North.

We passed a pod of Bottlenose dolphins swimming on a reciprocal course, and there were a large number of seals to be seen sleeping on Ness Sands. 

We arrived at Lossiemouth and were the only visiting boat in the harbour. There will be rather less water at low tide than we need to float but we are promised that the bottom is soft mud and that there won't be a problem.

Lossie is a lovely town with many restaurants and pubs which we are avoiding so that we don't get pinged by 'Test and Trace'. There is a long sandy beach, which is inaccessible as the footbridge over the river has been condemned and the next is 3 miles upstream. Still, we had a nice walk and an ice cream.

We are discussing whether to leave at 0345 tomorrow (last practicable time before low water) and go to Peterhead, or leave at 10 on a rising tide and go to Whitehills. The latter is tempting but we may be berthed against a wall with a 3m tidal range which will require mooring line adjustments at night. All will be revealed tomorrow.....
