A very busy night for the crew with the wind varying
from 11 knots to 41 knots! Four or five squalls came through gusting the
wind to force 9. Hector and Stuart got a good soaking.
News Flash: We have just seen land!
Barbados. Yeah.
On one occasion we needed to reef but a riding turn on
the Yankee sheet winch locked the sheet bar tight until a rolling hitch and a
line to another winch took the pressure off and we could furl the sail.
Later the staysail whisker pole detached itself from the mast and Iain had to go
forward to stow it before we lost the pole over the side.
A decision has been made and we are heading for Port St
Charles, Barbados. We hope to be there at about 5pm local time. 9pm back
home. However, the St Charles harbor master is becoming less and less hospitable
as he fears a 'big swell' coming through. It may be that we continue on to
Bequia - we shall see.
I have no idea what is for dinner.
