Average speed so far 7.3kts Trip:
1,245nm Wind: E 5/6
Distance to go: 903nm
Settled into a regular shift-pattern of 1 1/2 hours on
(hand-steering), 4 1/2 hours off (dozing and reading). Wind and weather remain
about as good as they can be, so progress remains good. We reckon the
humans sail faster than George during the day, but a bit slower at night (due to
the need to semi-furl sails).
To celebrate Thanksgiving, Skips has decided to cook a
three-course meal of:- Starter: salt water Pita bread and Allioli. Main:
Chicken, Leek and Tarragon Pie with vegetables and roast potatoes. Dessert:
apple pie and ?. George won't be getting any!
On AIS we can see that we're getting increasingly close
to Pacific Pearl - another sailing yacht. Skip has just spoken to her
on VHF and she is an Oyster 48 Light wave with a family of four onboard taking
part in the ARC plus. She is on the opposite gybe to us and now heading further
south and back to their rhumb line. She might be going a bit quicker than us but
we understand from our conversation that we our ahead on the culinary
front.
