Volendam to Hoorn

We all cycled to Edam, which was around 3 miles each way, bought the typical Edam cheese, sat on the square and watch a wedding, horse & trap, both the bride and groom arrived together, maybe this is a Dutch custom.  Then cycled by the dyke back to the boat to find a wedding couple having pictures on the harbour wall, they asked to have pictures on Suzie Too and also sat on our bikes which was a bit funny.

Volendam is a very kiss me quick type of place, we moored on the harbour wall, surrounded by tourists that were being bussed in and loud bars and cafes.  By 8pm all the tourists have gone and its like a ghost town.

Left after lunch and had a wonderful sail on a reach in 7-13 knots of winds, very sunny, in shorts, the legs were out ( Sailors yet jealous as this was perfect conditions even though it was very shallow at times).

Moored in inner harbour 14.65 Euros right in town, lot of lovely bars and shops, but David never got off the boat.  Looked at shops myself and picked up a few provisions.

As its now holiday time in Holland, the shops seem to close early and the bars are full.  Had BBQ on Kaikoura, had chicken on sticks and beef burgers, and I made a lovely salad.  Watched another episode of Howard’s ways, getting hooked on Jan’s clothes….just my style.
