Once the winds were southerly again, we slowly
worked our way north through the shallow areas of Great sandy strait. We had
more water, and better visibility this time, so there were no groundings or
other problems. We anchored in Kingfisher Bay just as the sun went down, but did
not get any sleep at all. When the tide turned, we were too close to a big motor
yacht. It was to dark to move.
At first daylight, half past five this morning, we
got the anchor up -and headed north. In 15-20 knots of wind from SE and only
small seas, we had a fantastic sail up to Bundaberg today. Doing 6-7 knots we
got in early and tied up to the fuel dock for fuel and water. We also got rid of
all our rubbish and bought a bread. So no we're happy. The anchorage is nice and
calm -and we have a dolphin swimming around the boat, entertaining us. Very
promising for a good nights sleep before we do a long jump -200 miles up to
Great Keppel Island tomorrow.
