Yesterdays 24 hrs run was tragic @ 124.42
nms, but given the complete lack of wind and the weight of ‘SY Duende’ with
water, fuel, food and bodies it wasn’t too bad a day at the
office. We left the Marina in Tauranga as soon as we
could, we actually left before the tide had gone slack, which makes
getting the yacht into open water difficult with such a strong tidal
flow. Todays plan is to get round East cape
and head to either Gisbourne or Napier dependent on
the wind strength and direction. at the moment we have a beam on sea and wind!
which doesn’t make for a smooth ride but we are making good time and expect to
be at East cape in the early hours of Wednesday morning and then we will head
down towards Gisbourne and Hawkes
Bay. Happy
