long trousers and oilskins for sustained periods. This has been combined
with an attempt by Neptune himself to make us very wet with both fresh and
salt water. This is all thanks to an Atlantic depression which has been
giving us favourable (if somewhat strong ) winds since we left Bermuda 6
days ago. The cold front finally went through yesterday which has now left
us in 20 knots of sunny NW winds but we had to pay for it 2 nights ago with
sustained 30-35 knots but gusts of 45. The 3rd reef really works.
We should break the 1000 miles to go barrier today which means that the the
readout on the GPS will start telling us distance to run in decimal points
and is always a good sign. We await another forecast by e mail from Bermuda
today but predictions were for a building high pressure system when the the
diesel may come in handy again.
Morale is brimming not least because storm conditions make sax playing a
little difficult. Muesli is becoming less popular than porridge and canned
drinks are being usurped by hot choccy. Need I say more?
