Following a day of sorting stuff and finally making
associate ready we checked out of St Lucia with customs, paid our final marina
bill - that was not as bad as feared - and set off for our next stop,
Martinique
A solid north easterly wind meant a motor sail with two
reefs in the main but all was good and we even seemed to miss the worst of the
marauding squalls with only 25 knot winds
We arrived at the anchorage of St Annes and found
another 200+ boats with the same idea. The anchorage is huge however and we soon
found a place just outside the 'no anchorage' area
Having made sure our anchor was well set and we motored
ashore in the dinghy
What a difference. The French influence was immediately
noticeable - and apart from being much cheaper certainly had a bit more
style although still with a Caribbean influence. We purchased some puddings from
the boulangerie, watched the sun go down on a swing in a beach bar and motored
back to the boat. We look forward to exploring more
