Morning all,
we have now managed to sail the last 2 days all be
it with light winds and are now in motoring range with the diesel we have left
should the need arise. After many sail configurations we came up with the
ultimate light downwind rig of a polled out Genoa to port and a polled out
gennaker to starboard (a lot of sail) and currently making 100 mile days and
just over 1500 miles to date with only 100 to go.
Yesterday we only saw 2 boats the whole day the
first a cargo ship which gave us some updated weather info and the second a line
trawler with may be up to 10 miles of drift net being paid out
behind.
This was thought to be a good sign and just as we
left the trawler over the horizon we were in the middle of our scrabble game
when we heard the good sound of a screaming reel.It clearly was a fighting fish
and was determined this one was not getting away ,at one point some 80M behind
us it leapt 1 to 2 M out of the water a fine looking fish weighing in at 6lb. We
think its a Dorado but I am sure I will receive a definite id from the RBS boys
shortly.
Food:
Lunch was corned beef sandwiches and mid afternoon
tea was accompanied with a freshly baked chocolate cake which was half
demolished with no trouble.
Dinner was Chicken Madras with extra Chilli washed
down with a couple of ice cold beers ,all good and looking forward already to
tonight's fish.
Thanks to Jez and Stu for the tour updates
,although a bit unpleasant for Cavendish ,good for Froome as he has a good
lead.
