Dear Readers
I am afraid standards are slipping amongst the crew as there was no rush of
volunteers to pen this message to you all. A bit of wind and sea and they all
disappear off to their bunks. Well that has always been the case with the chef
who van sleep for Jersey. He usually gets more sleep on the boat than he ever
does at home but the work experience lad we have found is no better being
comatose on most occasions, with mouth wide open, dribbling and making some
ungodly noises. He has no real excuse for this as he is still a lad. He tells me
his family would recognise this condition. Poor them I would say.
Just before breakfast today, with much moaning about having to do this
before eating. , we repaired the damaged reef line with much sewing from
the tactician and me. To do it in the conditions was a fine team effort No
sooner had we done it than the wind piped up to 25 kts plus which we have had
virtually ever since so we are in for another fast day. We now conclude that the
electrical issue is down to tired batteries which will hold a charge but cannot
maintain voltage. There is talk that I bought cheaply on batteries and rope and
the many other things that have gone wrong. As if I would?
We continue to bowl along at a great rate but do not seem to be doing as
well positionally as we has hoped but we should do better in the lighter
conditions as we are competing in class C with boats that are bigger and heavier
than us and revel in these bigger breezes. Conditions should ease by late on
Monday and we look forward to that and some sunshine which has been fleeting at
best. No doubt we are warmer than you are though. T shirts and shorts during the
day and light weight oilies at night for the rain.
That’s all for now.
