It’s Friday and the weekend starts here.

Things are still going well and we’ve made good progress.  Of course we’re not competitive in any way but after lagging behind the only other Oyster 53 on the first day with our steering breakage, we have made inroads into his lead.  Just think what we could do if we were trying to beat him.

We’ve come further south than first envisaged as the wind has backed to the north west due to a small weather system and one must remember that gentlemen never sail to windward.  We had to reef earlier today but things are settling down and we’re just waiting for the wind to veer and then floor it (Jennies words) to our destination. We hope to pass a milestone in the next 24 hours of it being less than 2000 miles to go.  Doesn’t sound far when you say it like that.

Yesterday we ate sumptuously.  We dines on veal gschnalets.  That might not be the right spelling but it tasted good....... followed by strawberry and kiwi fruit pavlova.  Our latitude puts us in the tropics at the moment but whilst its not cold, its not at the temperature we were expecting.   Still, all is well.
