Carloforte
When we were leaving Addaya I was asked by an American yachty where I was going. When I said Sardinia he said you must go to Carloforte…..so I have. Carloforte is the only town on the Islota di S. Pietro Carloforte is half way down on the right side. The big blue area is some salt flats where it looks like they still harvest salt. There are some log legged birds you may be able to just make out. This is a retirement home for them when they get too old to deliver babies. I went for a bike ride today to the highest part of the islota which was about 12kms there and much less coming back downhill. I had to use the brakes quite hard and one of the spokes broke. Once I had pulled the loose bit out of the wheel it was fine. An abandoned quarry. The land on the horizon is mainland Sardinia. An abandoned house. The grounds had been landscaped but it is now a wilderness. There was evidence of some small development… Not a good picture but someone is building a quality stone house overlooking this ravine. There are quite a lot of isolated houses…..this is someone’s meandering drive. Coming back into town Piazza Pegli. And a few street scenes The old town A more modern residential street. That’s my bike ride……. now for a shower. |
