Saturday 17 August 19, Cascais, Portugal

Arrived in Porto (Tuesday 13th August) and moored up in the marina Douro which is right at the opening of the Atlantic ocean and the Douro river that flows through the centre of Porto. Sailed the 186 nm overnight which took us 28 hours. The marina was nice enough and really handy for getting in and out of the ocean. On my scale of good marinas Douro was probably a 7/10 (St Cast, Brittany, France being the gold standard of 10). Weather was good for the day and a half that we spent there. Did lots of aimless walking around and arguing about where to eat! But we did OK in the end.

Lilli Mae enjoying the sun. With her hat on!
Left Porto on Thursday 15th heading south again for even more sunshine. Arrived in Cascais at about 11 AM local time after sailing 160 nm overnight from Porto.  34 knot wind accompanied our arrival. Sailed with the chute (spinnaker) for 10 nm into the port and sped in even though we had light winds. We arrived in Cascais and the sun obliged with more heat. Man it is hot!
This is the first time that Lilli Mae had the cover on because it is so hot! Nice place though (Cascais). Thoroughly recommended!

Anyway got 2 more days here in Lisbon. Going to explore the local area today and then head into the city tomorrow.
Only 3750 more miles to Montego Bay! More dispatches in a few days.
