Too Much Wind and Big Seas

Well we haven’t managed to avoid the strong winds! The last two days have been quite challenging. Wind is 22 – 27 knots, gusting to 30+ with rough seas. Some of the waves breaking over the side of the boat have soaked everyone and everything. We have three reefs in the main sail and about two thirds of a genoa, but we are going quite fast – averaging 6 – 7 knots an hour. The positive thing is that we should arrive tomorrow evening not Friday. We will all be pleased to round Cape St Vincent at the bottom of Portugal where the sea should calm down, and then it’s only 26 miles to Lagos... |
