Huahine, Society Islands, FP

16:42.80S 151:02.30W Although Paul had to recover from an eye infection and then went down with the flu, this island was like a special holiday: peaceful, beautiful and relaxing. The main town, Fare was very laid back, the Super-U by the seafront a great and easy place to stock up and the “New Temarara” Snack Bar right by the beach, overlooking the anchorage and the islands of Raiatea, Tahaa and Bora Bora in the distance. A wonderful place to eat and enjoy Happy Hour watching the sunset with fellow sailors... Huahine means the “Sex of the women”. If you look at the hills above, you see a pregnant women lying on the seabed, her legs hidden by the trees. The ancient life giving mother! Easy dinghy landing to the town, right next to “The New Temarara” and their very friendly staff, here Catherine learned a new way of wearing her sarri (=pareo)! We also visited the idyllic Pearl Treehouse on the beach, check it out on www.pearltreehouse.com. The South of the island is heavenly: Filling up some fresh water containers: Afternoon snorkeling terrain |
