Christmas in Antigua
Up early as usual for a cuppa, looking forward to Isabelle’s French brasserie delivery run in Falmouth harbour. She had assured us that December 25th or not she would be visiting the harbour yachts as usual with her yummy pattiserie wares……. Disappointingly she didn’t show (more on this story to follow) so we had a traditional scrambled eggs with avocado, Buck’s Fizz and coffee.

We followed this with some present opening; a somewhat eclectic mix which seemed to involve rather a lot of jelly babies!

Then it was time to get ashore for a stroll around Nelson’s dockyard, complete with a fine steel band, plenty of open shops and restaurants and at 12 noon, the Christmas Day Tot Club meeting. As before, notices, welcomes and toasts, together with a great opportunity to say hello to our fellow cruisers in this area.

We had also taken the opportunity to each pocket a rivet for which we needed to borrow the correct size rivet gun (to repair something up the mast): it made for a very novel conversation opener and delightfully we were successful in our request. Brilliant news.

We had worn the Team Cassini crew shirts and our UK visitors had arrived with a Santa Hat for each of us; our sartorial “elegance” went down a storm!

So 3 hours later, we headed back to Cassini for a bit of down time, some naps to compensate for the rum and beer consumption, some library time and some beach time for Colin and Jules.

Everyone managed to call home to exchange Christmas wishes and hear about festivities back in the UK.
Our Christmas meal…. rum cocktails, crostini starters, chicken olive red wine cassoulet with red cabbage coleslaw with Christmas Pudding and cream to follow.

All in all a fabulous and very different Christmas Day.
