After the social Friday night BBQ at the marina, we slipped our lines at Bundaberg Port Marina, to start our 'trek' north to Thursday Island, - 1325 nm weaving through the Great Barrier Reef and Islands, which close the mainland coast as one goes north.

Phil had a great find in the 'anyone want' corner at the Marina, a seemingly unused storm jib. Keen to check it out, it was hoisted on the inner forestay. Fitted a treat!

Whales: Humpback whales are migrating south at this time of year to the Antarctic. We saw the first one just off Bundaberg, an extra large log seemed to be drifting our way! It became 'a whale a day' for the next 3 weeks. One had Phil lost for words, as he turned to look at the water he could have touched it through the guard rails. He eventually said 'it was big'!

Although I recently bought a better camera it doesn't solve the rolling boat. Whales are difficult to photograph! Photos of whales.
