Corinth

7th - 8th May

We left Korfos around 0900 and motored all the way to the canal in a flat glassy sea. we had our Dutch friends Limani Mou following us. Having spoken to the canal control on the VHF we duly tied up to the wall on the port side and paid our fees - 189 E for us this time. We then waited for about 1 hour and were given permission to proceed around 1330. we were the only two boats in the canal and took some pictures of each other's boats as we motored through. On our exit we headed for town port which was shallow but quiet. We moored alongside the concrete wall on the port side which had about 2.2 m. depth and divides the main basin from the small inner fishing basin. We had a quick explore in the town and found the taxi rank for the morning's visit to the ancient site of Old Corinth. We were in a taxi and on our way to the site by 0830 and explored this and the museum in fairly short order. It was very interesting especially the museum which was well labelled and set out. The site needs more up to date signage and mapping but we certainly were able to get the gist of things and I was particularly impressed by the ancient bath site. We were back on board by 1030 and headed off for Galaxidhi our next port of call.
