The weather has been very nice to us and although motored most of the time a fresh breeze after early afternoon kept us cool the rest of the day.

The trip from Procida to Amalfi is interesting and romantic. Sailing the gulf of Naples southeasterly you don’t get bored. On your port tack you can see all the coastal towns, ancient Pompeii, Hercullaneum, Vesuvius, Ischia on your stern  and the famous Sorrento on your bows. This can only bring you musical memories and romantic canzoni.

To me is a memory of my parents visiting couple of times this area in the mid-fifties when they used to send to us back home black and white  Post Cards (cartes postale)  of the coast of Sorrento then the ‘’Devine Coast’’ of Praiano, Positano, Amalfi and up hills, inland  the village of Ravello. I well remember my parents’ narration about these places and visiting them now I feel they must  have not changed,  remaining full of character.

Reaching Capri we could see some nice old beautiful homes in a mixed green with beautiful bougainvilleas and tall cypresses.  We  decided not to go into the port because we wanted to make more miles so we followed the coast facing the mainland to see the beautiful rocks starting from the northeastern famous Punta del Capo. Then turned to see the Pizzolungo, the Fraglioni di Capri and the Grotta di Matermania, a cave in which, in ancient times, rituals in honor of the gods of the wood were celebrated. It was a nice sail the sea was calm beautiful landscape but a bit crowded so we left for the Costiera Amalfitana.

Two nautical miles away from Capri the wind picked up, a nice breeze made us feel better and decided to stop in Isola Li Galli known also as Rudolf Nureyev islands Li Galli. We anchored in very deep water and enjoyed a nice swim and later a nice lunch, some salad and cheese.

We left after lunch to make it in Amalfi before dusk.
