Today at ten o’clock in the morning when we had all woken up we went into
town to have a small look around. We went to shore in the dingy, when we were
ashore Daddy realised that he had forgotten some things that we needed so he got
back into the dingy and he went back to the boat. Whilst he was back at the boat
getting the things we needed Catrin, Harry and I went to a small playground.
When Daddy came back we walked to a science museum, sadly when we got to the
museum we realised that the museum was shut. But next to the museum their was a
great view of the sea and a tall cliff, when we had walked back to where we had
started we decided to go to a fishing shop. In the fishing shop we brought
another squid lure, a spoon, fifty pound line and a pretend fishing set for
Catrin. After we had done all our shopping in the fishing shop we looked in some
other toy shops in these shops we didn’t buy anything. As soon as we had looked
around the shops we decided that we should go sailing because we thought it was
a lovely day with no wind and no waves.
When we had set sail Daddy set up the trolling line for me, on the trolling
line we had a squid lure Catrin named the squid on the trolling line Sid the
Squid. When we had been sailing for a few hours we decided to put the fifty
pound line on the fishing reel and to take the rubbish line off the fishing
reel. When we had taken the rubbish line of the reel and put the new fifty pound
line on the reel, Harry started fishing with the fishing rod. On the sail their
were really big gusts of wind from the mountains over 30 knots and cliffs, the
waves were not that big as it was an offshore breeze. When we had arrived at the
anchorage in The Isle de Formentor it was half past seven so Daddy quickly made
our tea. After tea I read for a tiny little bit and I the went to bed because it
was half past nine.
When we anchor we have to make sure we drop the anchor on the sand not the
sea grass. The sea grass is poor holding and the anchor may slip. As the water
is clear it is quite easy to see when the sun is behind you.
Isle of Formentor fact file:
Cala Formentor used to be a very popular anchorage
until the whole Cala was laid with buoys, you can
now only anchor outside of the bay. (we have anchored as the buoys have not
been laid yet)
On a cliff next to the anchorage there is a very posh five star hotel
called the Hotel Formentor.
Formentor’s beaches are popular beaches for tourists,
Jet-skis, Water skiers and speed boats.
