POSITION REPORT ON SATURDAY 2 MAY 2015 AT 1100 35:18S 174:07W We’ve just left Opua in new Zealand, heading for Aneityum in Vanuatu. It’s a 7 or 8 day passage. We’ve got light winds today and I think that we’ll be motoring north for a day until we pick up some ENE winds. After that the winds are forecast to increase to 20-25 knots and we should be on a reach for three days. We’re going to keep east of the rhumb line in anticipation of a low pressure trough that may hit us on day 5. By keeping some easting in our pockets, we’ll be able to bear away and run more westerly if the winds are strong in the trough. I’ll be trying to post every day at 08:00 NZ time which is 20:00 in the UK. |
