Made steady progress yesterday and expect to make very good progress over the next 24 hours as the winds pick up. I have less than 1000 mies to go, which is always a major milestone for me. I've set a personal objective of getting home in time to see the first England World Cup game with a bacon sandwich and bottle of Fullers ESB.
Yesterday in the distance I could see a whale spouting then it disappeared and about 15 mins later my depth gauge registered a depth of 30 meters (its approx 2500 meters here, so deep that the depth gauge can’t hit the bottom). The only reason the depth gauge suddenly registered a depth of 30 meters was it picked up the whale passing under me. About 10 mins later I saw it on my other side.
