3-5 November Pasito  Blanco Marina, Gran Canaria
We leave the UK in the middle of storm Ciaran, wondering if we will get away, and eventually spending three hours sat on the stand due to a technical fault! It is windy when we arrive, but warm, and is a little like coming back home. We lose a half-day with the delay, so get a taxi down to the marina. We meet up with Cristian, check that the jobs have been done, and pay some large bills! We decamp back to Playa del Ingles for the night with an overnight bag.
We are back to the marina early the following day ready for Niord's relaunch. We worked hard yesterday to be ready for today, and now we have to wait for the hoist to be serviced before we launch! After twiddling our thumbs for three hours she goes in at the end of the day without incident. We make our way to our new mooring, right by the marina entrance which is pretty bouncy to say the least. Who should we see walking along the pontoon but Tom and Mick from Bonnie who we first met in Porto Santo, and then again in Madeira!
Bad weather with strong headwinds are due for early next week, so we decide to compress our four-day preparations to sail into a day and a half in order to get away in time. We don't have a minute to spare as we have to completely re-rig Niord with her sails, unpack everything from down below onto deck, check the engine, and resolve an issue with some water which has been coming in through our stern gland since we relaunched. Ali and Ray visit us for lunch on Saturday in the middle of our preparations, and they decide to spend a few days in Puerto Mogan, due to our changed plans. It's exhausting, but we are ready to sail on Sunday morning, 5th November.
