2 blogs in one day!! well that is what a 5
hour watch in the pitch black, a can of Red Bull and a packet of Oreos will do
to you. Today we started the day with heavy wind and heavy seas and we are
now down to 10-12 Knots from the North but the seas are much kinder, a sort of
10-12 foot roller which does not stop us at all. We have averaged better
than 8 knots since the last 24 hour period which bodes well for this one.
Maybe a new crossing record though it would have to be a good one, I think
I recall that day one out of Bermuda was 192Nm.
So on to the sweepstake. We forgot to draw
lots at dinner so I suspect lunch tomorrow. If you want to play at home
here are the vital statistics. I can't promise a prize as we are running
low on even soiled Snark Merchandise but you can play for pride,
Estimated Miles to go at 11pm GMT Ist
June 420 Nm
Average boat speed so far (log
speed)
7.1 Knots
Time will be taken passing the breakwater in
Gibraltar bay.
Before closing an update on Mike's diet mentioned
yesterday. Mike as you may recall has been banging on about survival on a
bowl of rice and soya sauce a day. Today when asked what he fancied for
lunch he just had a nectarine. We are all very impressed with his
discipline while tucking into our omlette. However we then discovered that
a whole tin of cashews had gone missing along with a tin of condensed milk, a
strange combination to be sure but now we know what else Mike likes along with
his rice and soya sauce.
Bye for now must check if there are any ships about
or if HMS Moon is making an appearance.
