I took both cylinder heads off on Saturday to see what the problem is. I think it is the valves as one telltale sign is white deposits around the valves but I don’t know enough to be sure. This morning I plan on taking the cylinder heads to a local diesel service to get their opinion and, hopefully, to get them to regrind the valves. If that can be done then I can put the engine back together fairly quickly. Once I know that I am making progress on the engine I can then deal with getting someone to look at the autopilot and getting our propane cylinder topped up.
