Stromboli comes home

We now roaring, well alright - foaming, OK, OK - pottering along at 6.0 knots at 34:18.41N 44:43.55W good beam winds (90 degrees to the boat) and moderate seas. Just completed 132 miles in the last 24 hours. We changed the ship's clocks today - we're now just 4 hours behind BST so dinner will be served in daylight. There's 719 miles to run - assuming we go to Flores. Last night R and I were treated to what has become known as C's 12 inch supper. It seems that C opened the food stowage (under the s/s berth) and moving from fore to aft took a can out every 12 inches along the locker. The result was a piquant and exotic tasting dish which entirely dispensed with accepted norms as to what might go with what. There was asparagus, chicken pieces and sweet corn, I remember. And tinned tomatoes on a bed of onions and garlic, in turn on a bed of couscous. Tuna I think played a role. (I suppose its churlish to be grateful that the puddings are under the p/s berth.) We've started bread baking (C made his first loaf yesterday which was pretty good).

C is still promoting his spun-off-into-a third-dimension theory and had even started ruminating that we (plus the sea around us) might have been put (by the giant third dimension beings) into one of those little dome paperweight things that you shake and get a sort of snowfall. We spotted a ship at breakfast time today so the whole theory now looks fairly dubious - C's still fighting his corner but I think the Nos have it.

We had an email from Clarabella (our friends from the Rally) yesterday. They were just leaving the Galapagos for the Marquesas (3000 miles) which makes our little trip look a little puny - especially as they have three kids on board. We have a number of 'milestone' celebrations coming up. Skipper's longest at sea - the 26th - (Champagne), 500 miles (more from the goody bags), 250 miles (wine), Land ahoy (massive drams). Weather so far look OK. We have a low to the NW and the Azores high to the NE so we're in the sort of jet between them. Wind is ESE F4-5. Weather pretty blue with some high hazy cloud. We notice the nights are getting cooler up here - we're all togging up for our watches but the days are warm.....
